5 New Episodes of Sid the Science Kid set to premiere the week of September 14th

Mark the week of September 14th on your calendar so you don't miss 5 all new episodes of Sid the Science Kid!  You and your preschooler can tune into PBS Kids that week to see a basic introduction to the wonders of weather in the always delightful Sid the Science Kid style.

The five episodes, debuting the week of September 14–18, will explore the science of weather and seasons, including a fun play date in the sun with Dad; why rain is important; a cold and chilly holiday; what wind can do and a special adventure with Sid the Weatherman.

I was able to view an advance copy of these episodes and I really enjoyed them all.  I'm highly impressed with this series in general and I was particularly delighted to see what a wonderful job they did with the important subject of sun safety.  I think this should be a requirement for all preschoolers to view.

In the Sun episode, Sid is excited to play soccer with his Dad outside--but he’s not excited to lather up in sunblock, because it takes way too long to put on!  At school, Sid and his friends discover that sunblock is a great way to protect your skin from the sun.  And they also learn about the amazing ways the sun helps the Earth.

The interactive site at pbskids.org/sid extends the series’ fun and learning. In a new online game which is set to launch with the episodes, kids learn about weather by spinning the weather wheel and choosing which clothing options are appropriate for Gerald that day. Gerald lets site visitors know if they’ve dressed him correctly or if changes are needed.

SID THE SCIENCE KID is a co-production of The Jim Henson Company and KCET/Los Angeles for PBS KIDS.
